Pro-Woman, Pro-Life
Susan B. Anthony called abortion "child-murder." (The Revolution 4(1):4 Sharon Weston, Member of the Louisiana state legislature: "When we look at African Americans from a historical standpoint, you do not find abortion as an integral part of our history.
Alice Paul (author of the original ERA) - "Abortion is the ultimate exploitation of women."
Abortion does not solve any ... problems, though it may temporarily relieve them. A poor woman does not cease to be poor because she aborts her child. A professional woman will not achieve equality of treatment by becoming unpregnant. A woman with an unplanned pregnancy faces more than "inconvenience"; many adversities, financial and social, at school, at work, and at home confront her. Our mistake was in looking at these problems and deciding that the fault lay with the woman, that she should be the one to change. We focused on her swelling belly, not the pressures that made her so desperate. What a choice we made for her.
Sally Winn is no ordinary pro-life supporter. She's a Democrat and a strong feminist; but she understands that pro-life advocates aren't all right-wingers.
We have the job of rallying the community to find better solutions to pregnancy than killing the baby, than pitting mother against child.

"America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts--a child--as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience. (Mother Theresa -- "Notable and Quotable," Wall Street Journal, 2/25/94, p. A14)
